Why Is Snoring A Problem?
Snoring May Be More Damaging To Women’s Hearts Than Men’s, Study Indicates.
HealthDay (11/29, Salamon) reported researchers found that snoring may more quickly damage women’s hearts than men’s, and “that obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) may be vastly underdiagnosed among snorers.” The findings were presented at the Radiological Society of North America’s annual meeting.
Cardiovascular Business (11/29, Slachta) reported that while “a significantly greater proportion of men are snorers…women who snore or experience obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) are at a greater risk for early cardiac dysfunction than their male counterparts.”
Dental professionals can point their patients to the ADA’s consumer website, MouthHealthy.org, for information about sleep apnea.
